I often get asked why I chose coaching as a career. From my own personal experience, I can vouch for the fact that one of the best ways to get clarity in your thoughts and figure out the way forward if you are stuck, is through an honest conversation with someone qualified, in a safe place with no judgment and no bias. Coaching provides a secure space for one to be able to clear their mind, obtain unbiased feedback, and have their feelings validated without the fear of being judged. This is what I want to be able to offer people, especially in the digital world we live in today.
A good coach offers alternative opinions and points of view, which are great for internal growth. Further, a good coach listens actively and can pick out pain points one may not even be aware of. This helps a person to feel valued, supported, and confident. All in all, a great coach can take your life from good to great, helping you to build self-esteem and self-love.
A big step is for a person to realize and accept that they need a change, and I firmly believe that this change starts with the mindset. Having said that, it is quite easy to start off with passion but quickly fall back deflated and demotivated, because transformation takes time, energy, patience, hard work and commitment. In my opinion, keeping the client supported and motivated through this journey is the biggest challenge for a coach. My aim is to make my coaching friendly yet meaningful, empathetic yet challenging, and most importantly, bring about not just a change but a transformation.
