Is becoming a coach a life changer? Veronica Natzia, a graduate, shares her journey and challenges in becoming a coach. Let's read her story!
Becoming a coach
Becoming a coach seemed like a natural choice to me when I considered new challenges in my life, but not for the reasons you might think. I work hard, set goals, and do whatever it takes to meet those goals, but I was never the person who sought out others to mentor, and I never had an aspiration to be a leader. But after going through my own personal struggle, fearing for the wellbeing of my son, being on the verge of homelessness, and being able to turn my life around, I unlocked a level of empathy inside me that previously hadn't surfaced. When I reflected on the journey I had taken, the new success I had now realized, and the distance I had come, I started to think about how many others may be struggling, and how desperate and lost they may feel. It truly broke my heart thinking that other women may be feeling as lost or as desperate as I once did. It was then that I decided that becoming a coach would be my best route to positively connecting with and affecting the lives of as many people as possible.I felt (and still feel) that having a strong community behind you adds credibility, trust, and a network that may help with your resume or potential clients’ perception of you. And not only that, learning from a community that has tested, tried, and found methodologies that work eliminates so much of the trial and error that I would have had to do to figure out the best way to help each person that I come into contact with.
Do your research
When I started to research coaches and certifications and find my "guru," there was no shortage of them. It felt like every other person on Instagram could "help you get to the next level" with whatever you were doing. It was so overwhelming. Then, I started to dig deeper, looking for certifications. The way I saw it, I can help people every day. But if I really wanted to understand people, tailor my approach, extend my reach beyond my own network, and help as many people as possible, being connected to a network of professionals would definitely be the best option. Now if you've done any research, you already know that Google can be your best friend or your worst waste of time. I am so glad that I didn't jump at the first certification school that popped up when I Googled “Life Coach Certification”. That would be my number one and biggest tip. Do your research. Deals that are expiring in the next 20 minutes or offers that try to pressure you into joining before you have a chance to reconsider are poisonous. There is a massive difference between a call to action, like the one given by Jay Shetty Certification School, and one of these offers.
Find the right community
The next tip I would give you when starting out is to build your tribe early. Being surrounded by people who support your journey, build you up, and extend your network is so valuable. I learned early on that embracing those who supported me and muting those who didn't would be one of the biggest, if not the biggest, keys to my success. The third thing I would say is one of the most important parts of the journey, and one that I struggled with early on as well, is to TRUST THE PROCESS. While learning, studying, and practicing to become a certified coach at the Jay Shetty Certification School, there were times when I'll be honest, I thought, "Why do I need to do this? Can't I just start helping?" But trust me when I say that it's all part of a well-designed and important plan. Remember when Mr. Miyagi said, "Wax on, wax off"? Imagine if Daniel ignored him because he couldn't see why it was so important. For me, career-wise, joining the Jay Shetty Certification School and Community has been the most rewarding decision I've made.
Why did I choose Jay Shetty Certification School?
Aside from the fact that Jay Shetty Certification School itself is outstanding, the learning, refining, and improving of my own skills have been priceless in themselves. But as time has gone on, the real value I'm now seeing is the connection to the community through my own mentors, to other coaches that I certified with, or to coaches that I now mentor myself. There are so many amazing people to bounce ideas off of, share successes and challenges with, and even refer clients to each other. Knowing I am never alone and that I literally have thousands of other coaches and mentors at my fingertips is a peace of mind that is hard to describe. Being a person who at one point in my life had fewer than two people that I felt I could actually count on, having this family is truly a blessing that I am so grateful for.I spend a lot of time in the Jay Shetty Community, trying to give back and support people the same way I've been supported. This community really is the key that has helped me grow my own, now seven-figure coaching business. I have people seeking me out now, but for those I meet, the moment they hear Jay Shetty's name associated with me, the extra layer of credibility, the excitement about him, and his being a celebrity are an instant ice breaker with new or potential clients.
Final words
From the beginning of this journey, helping others, building people up, and seeing them break free of their own perceived limitations has been my goal, and definitely, the most rewarding part of my experience is when I see those moments, watch my clients’ transformations, and am able to help them on their own roads to success. But just as rewarding has been being able to give back to the Jay Shetty Community. To the man, the school, and the community that took me under their wing and helped me in becoming a coach that I am today, I take any and every opportunity to help do the same. If I can help a coach during their certification process or through the early parts of their coaching career and provide advice, support, or even just a shoulder when needed, then I will be there night or day. It's really hard to express how much gratitude I have toward the Jay Shetty Certification School, but for the team that has supported me since Day 1, there isn't much I wouldn't do in return. They have my loyalty for life.
